64 Ways to Help West Coast Mastiff & Large Breed Rescue Rescue Without Adopting or Fostering

 

We always need volunteers!  If you are interested in volunteering, please fill out and submit the Volunteer Application.

 

  1. Donate money.
  2. Fill out an volunteer application and volunteer.  
  3. Sponsor a dog in rescue.
  4. When celebrating a birthday, anniversary or other event, ask your friends and family to make a donation to West Coast Mastiff & Large Breed Rescue in your name instead of getting you a present.
  5. Shop online through iGive.com with West Coast Mastiff & Large Breed Rescue designated as your favorite cause.
  6. Donate a collar, harnesses or leash.
  7. Donate a dog bed or large pillow for a foster dog to snuggle on.
  8. Donate a soft toy, Kong or other "giant dog friendly" toy.
  9. Donate an extra large crate, x-pens or baby gates.
  10. Donate some treats or a bag of premium dog food.
  11. Groom a dog when it comes in to rescue.
  12. Donate some grooming supplies (shampoos, combs, conditioners, etc.).
  13. Donate a camera or video camera for volunteers to do home checks and dog evaluations.
  14. Donate stuffed animals or blankets from a local thrift store sale
  15. Donate time to poop scoop a foster homes backyard.
  16. Donate time to walk and help do basic training.
  17. Donate dog dishes.
  18. Donate long distance calling cards.
  19. Attend public education days and other outreach events with the rescue group and try to educate people on responsible pet ownership, the the giant breeds and about rescue.
  20. Donate a gift certificate to a pet supply store.
  21. Donate a raffle item or auction items for fundraising.
  22. Make a quilt or other special item that can be used for a raffle or auction.
  23. Auction something on EBay or other auction site with the proceeds going to rescue (usually you get higher bids if people know its for rescue).
  24. Donate flea control products (Advantage, Frontline, etc.).
  25. Donate heartworm pills.
  26. Donate medicines that you no longer use for your dog.
  27. Write an article for the newsletter.
  28. Watch a foster family's dog(s) for a few days or weeks when the foster family goes on vacation.
  29. Contact companies to donate items for "adoption packages" for new adopters.
  30. Conduct a home visit or accompany a rescue person on the home visit.
  31. Have a yard sale and donate the money to rescue.
  32. Donate doggie doors.
  33. Donate dog barriers.
  34. Talk to all your friends and coworkers about adopting and fostering giant breed dogs.
  35. Donate vet services, a spay or neuter or some vaccinations each year.
  36. Talk to vets to encourage them to offer discounts on rescue.
  37. Write a column for your local newspaper or club newsletter about dogs looking for homes or ways to help rescue.
  38. Help organize and run fundraising events.
  39. Donate a bottle of Simple Solution, Nature's Miracle or other cleaning products.
  40. Take pictures or videos of West Coast Mastiff & Large Breed Rescue fundraising events.
  41. Pay the cost of taking a dog to obedience class and take it to class.
  42. Donate laundry soap and bleach to fosters who have lots of bedding to wash
  43. Pay for the dog to be groomed or take the dog to a Do It Yourself Grooming place.
  44. Pay a house-cleaning service to do the spring cleaning for someone who fosters dogs all the time.
  45. Lend your artistic talents to West Coast Mastiff & Large Breed Rescue promotional materials.
  46. Donate photo paper, printer paper & colored paper for flyers, brochures and photo events.
  47. Go with a rescue person to the vet if a foster dog needs to be euthanized.
  48. Donate frequent flyer miles.
  49. Go to local businesses and solicit donations for a fundraising event.
  50. Offer to feed and/or walk a foster's dog(s) when they are going to be away from the house for long hours.
  51. Educate people you meet about the dire need to spay and neuter.
  52. Donate a coupon for a free car wash or inside cleaning of a vehicle.
  53. Donate prepaid gasoline cards.
  54. If you are a breeder, donate a small percentage of the sale of each pup to rescue.
  55. Buy two of those really neat dog-items you "have to have" and donate one to rescue.
  56. Provide in your will to cover the cost of caring for your dogs after you are gone - so rescue won't have to.
  57. Make a bequest in your will to West Coast Mastiff & Large Breed Rescue.
  58. Donate your professional services as an accountant, printer or other business services.
  59. Donate the use of a vehicle if you own a car dealership.
  60. Donate a cell phone (and cover costs for any calls or buy a prepaid card) to those who transport dogs.
  61. Talk to your children's class or service group (Scouts, etc.) about responsible pet ownership.
  62. Organize a "Loose Change Drive" or "Penny Pitch" and get coworkers, friends and neighbors to donate all their loose change to the rescue group.
  63. Donate gift bags for new adoptive homes with the basic doggie essentials in the baskets, collar, leash, toy, bag of treats, new blanket, thank you for saving me card!
